Visitors Access - What You Need To Know

Visitors Access Changes

If you are visiting for a graduation, please follow the instructions enclosed in your graduation letter or click on the Graduation tab.

To ensure that Fort Benning is in compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, all visitors will be vetted prior to entering the installation. While this is a DoD-wide initiative, we are doing all we can to streamline the process for accessing Fort Benning.

Visitors coming to Fort Benning, who do not have a government-issued identification card, will be subject to a background check in order to get an access pass, before being allowed to enter the installation. Those who show a common access card (CAC card), Military ID, Military Dependent ID, or an Automated Installation Entry Card won't be affected.

All personnel in your vehicle, who are 18 or older, will need a visitor pass, which requires a background check. Along with the pass, all visitors must present a valid picture identification card. Valid ID includes a drivers license, state ID, DD Form 1173 (Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card), DD Form 2 series or a passport issued by an authoritative agency (state/federal). Personnel under the age of 18 will not have a background check, and may enter the installation when escorted by a valid pass holder.

Military ID Card Holders

If you are traveling in the same vehicle as a military sponsor (Military ID or Common Access Card cardholder), you do not need a visitors's pass or background check to enter the installation provided your visit is escorted by the sponsor. AIE Badge cardholders are NOT sponsors. If you are an AIE Badge holder, visitors in your vehicle will need a visitors's pass.
