Fish and Wildlife Program

The Conservation Branch is responsible for managing the game and sport fish program on Fort Benning. This includes censusing and monitoring populations, publishing the hunting and fishing regulations, stocking, liming, fertilizing, and controlling weeds in fish ponds, planting wildlife openings, and other related activities.

The goal of the program is to provide a safe, quality hunting and fishing experience consistent with mission requirements and sound land management practices that will be a model for other fish and game programs.

Mission

Protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility. In every aspect of Fort Benning's mission, whether it be training Infantry Soldiers or preparing for overseas deployments, the protection of the natural and manmade environment is a priority. Fort Benning has an extensive environmental program managing issues ranging from endangered species to stormwater to hazardous waste.

The Environmental Management Division provides overall program management and is divided into three branches. The Environmental Programs Management Branch focuses on pollution control and compliance. The Conservation Branch focuses on wildlife management. The Land Management Branch controls land and timber resources.
