Incoming Jumpmaster Student Information

  1. Lodging, meals, and transportation
    1. There are no "walk-ons" permitted. In order to attend Jumpmaster School you must have a valid ATRRS reserved slot or a "wait" in the ATRRS system. These are obtained from your unit schools NCO. In the event of a "no show" that slot is filled with an ATRRS wait slot. Students that do not have a slot in the ATRRS system will not be considered for entry into the course and be told to return to their parent unit.
    2. Order Issuing Officials will not authorize travel unless the Soldier has a confirmed ATRRS reservation.
    3. Lodging is not available through the US Army Jumpmaster School. Students attending the Jumpmaster Course must report to the Fort Benning Lodging Office (Abrams Hall) Building 1670, 7350 Ingersoll Road for room assignments. The goal is to lodge all Army military students on post. Under PAL (Privatization of Army Lodging) only students with a valid ATRRS reservation are entitled to a room in Abrams Hall at the Army's expense. Students with an ATRRS wait status or students who are walk-ons will not be funded through the Military Specific Training Allotment (MSTA)/Institutional Directed Training Lodging and Meals (ITDLM) funding. The sending unit of students with an ATRRS wait or walk-on status must pay the lodging expense and hold the room with a valid form of payment (credit card) as with any privately owned facility. Students arriving without a valid ATRRS reservation may request to stay in Abrams Hall on a space available basis and must provide a means of payment upon arrival. Currently there is no off-post lodging agreement, students who arrive without a reservation (in ATRRS or at Abrams Hall) will have to make their own arrangements for lodging and pay their own expenses.
    4. Students with a valid ATRRS reservation will eat at installation dining facilities Monday-Friday at the Army's expense (no cost to the Soldier or sending unit). Full meal per diem is required on weekends and Federal Holidays. Meals for students with an ATRRS wait status or walk-on status are NOT funded at the Army's expense. The sending unit must pay the meal expense for the duration of the course.
    5. A rental car or POV travel should be authorized for TDY students. The on-post shuttle bus service is not a viable option due to extended class hours.
    6. This course is three weeks long. If a Federal Holiday falls within the course dates it will be observed. If there is a Federal Holiday during a course, ATRRS automatically pushes the End Date to Monday of week four. Please note that graduation (End Date) will ALWAYS be the last non-holiday day of week THREE.
  2. Reporting Requirements
    1. Students scheduled to attend Jumpmaster training must report to Building 2769 NLT 0545 hours on their designated START date (typically a Monday). Students failing to arrive on time will NOT be authorized to enter the course. Map for Inprocessing
    2. Applicants must have the following on hand when reporting to the course:

    3. Students must have their Advance Combat Helmet (ACH), ID card and ID tags. Although the Ops-core helmet is authorized for Airborne Operations, only the Advanced Combat Helmet will be used during the course.
    4. Chinstraps: Standard Advance Combat Helmets must have the modified chinstrap assembly only. The GENTEX chin strap is only authorized for use on the GENTEX Advanced Combat Helmet. The pre-drilled holes for the chin straps are different on the two helmets requiring different ballistic resistant hardware at the four attaching points to the shell. The ACH NSN List will help you identify if you have a Standard ACH or a GENTEX ACH. Ops-core chin straps are only authorized on Ops-core helmets.
    5. IF ANY OF THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE ARE MISSING, THE STUDENT WILL NOT BE ENROLLED IN THE COURSE.
  3. Course Prerequisites
    1. All students must be qualified, current (jumped within six months) as a parachutist and have a minimum of 12 static line parachute jumps out the paratroop door of a USAF high performance aircraft, and been on jump status for 12 months, these months do not have to be consecutive.
    2. Applicant must be recommended by the first LTC (O-5) in their Chain of Command.
    3. Applicants must meet the following rank requirements:
      1. Army Officers: Active Army, Reserve, or National Guard Officers in the grades of O-1 through O-4.
      2. Army Warrant Officers: Active Army, Reserve, or National Guard Warrant Officers in the grades of WO-1 through CW-3.
      3. Army Enlisted: Active Army, Reserve, or National Guard Soldiers in the grades of E-5 through E-8.
    4. Other Armed Services:
      1. Air Force: Officers must be in the grades of O-1 through O-4. Enlisted personnel must be in the grades of E-4 through E-8.
      2. Navy: Officers must be in the grades of O-1 through O-4. Warrant Officers must be in the grades of W-1 through W-3. Enlisted personnel must be in the grades of E-5 through E-8.
      3. Marine Corps: Officers must be in the grades of O-1 through O-4. Warrant Officers must be in the grades of W-1 through W-3. Enlisted personnel must be in the grades of E-4 through E-8.
      4. Foreign Students: This course is releasable to military students from foreign countries on a case-by-case basis. Foreign countries desiring to place students in this course must meet one or more of the following criteria: (1) Have a signed Letter of Intent (LOI); (2) Have waiver from HQDA; (3) Have USG release for training; (4) etc. Units sponsoring Foreign Students must ensure they meet all course prerequisites prior to reporting for Jumpmaster training.
  4. Waivers
    1. Effective 6 August 2013, the Infantry School Commandant is the waiver approval authority for this course.
    2. Waivers for exceptions to the Course Prerequisites listed above must be signed by the first LTC (O-5) in the student's Chain of Command and sent to the Infantry School Commandantís office.
    3. Students requiring a waiver MUST be in possession of the waiver when they report to the Jumpmaster Course. The waiver must be signed by the Infantry School Commandant (or his representative).
    4. Students requesting course prerequisite waivers or units requesting changes to POI content (MTTs) will submit their request through the first O-5 Commander in their Chain of Command to the Infantry School Commandant by email to: usarmy.benning.mcoe.mbx.usais-training-waivers@mail.mil or by mail to: Commandant, U.S. Army Infantry School ATTN: ATSH-IP, 1 Karker St, Suite 6107 Ft. Benning, GA 31905.
    5. Waivers (minus Medical/Physical) must be submitted NLT 75 days prior to the class start date or it will automatically be denied. Waivers for Medical/Physical requirements must be submitted NLT 90 days prior to class start date or it will automatically be denied. If Medical Waivers are needed the student must have a doctor's recommendation for a waiver and a request for a waiver signed by the first LTC (O-5) in the student's Chain of Command.

  5. Jumpmaster Course Overview:
    1. The course is three weeks long and is comprised of a Nomenclature Exam, Pre-Jump Exam, Written Exam, PWAC Exam, and JMPI Exam.
    2. Students should study the Nomenclature Study Guide PRIOR to attending the course. The exam will be on Day 2 of the course.
    3. Effective 1 January 2016, all students will be tested on the updated T-11 Pre-Jump. Students should memorize the updated T-11 Pre-Jump in its entirety PRIOR to starting the course.
    4. Incoming Marine Corps students should memorize T-11 Pre-Jump in its entirety PRIOR to starting the course.
    5. Every student will have three tests for JMPI (pre-test, test, and re-test). If the student scores an 80% or higher on the Nomenclature Exam, Pre-Jump Exam, Written Exam, and PWAC Exam, they will be re-entry qualified and have five opportunities to pass the JMPI Exam.
