Congratulations! We would like to welcome you to the 6th Ranger Training Battalion. This is an outfit that is not only challenging and unique mission, but one that has a long and colorful heritage over 50 years. We are pleased to have you and your family as a future member of our unit. We assure you that your assignment at Camp James E. Rudder will be a professional and a personal rewarding experience.

Eglin Air Force Base's Auxiliary Field Six is the site of Camp James E. Rudder and the home the Army's 6th Ranger Training Battalion. The final phase of the US Army Ranger Course is conducted in the coastal swamp around Camp Rudder, in which we train over 2,500 Ranger students per fiscal year.

Camp James E. Rudder is a sub-installation with operating quality of life facilities to provide basic needs. These include 25 family housing units, the all New Gator Lounge and Shoppette, a troop dining facility, a troop medical clinic, transportation sub-motor pool, a boathouse, and an Airborne staging area, as well as an air field capable of accomdating C-130 aircraft.

The 6th Ranger Training Battalion's parent organization is the Ranger Training Brigade located at Fort Benning.
