The Soldier Systems supports the Maneuver Battle Lab with planning, training, technology assessments, experimentation, and evaluations. The primary purpose is to seek enhancements in the survivability and lethality of forces with weapons systems, accessories, optics, and sensors. Weapons systems, accessories, and sensor systems generally include all small arms 40mm and below, equipment mounted on weapons systems, and sensor systems that enable the Soldier to engage or detect threat weapons.

Systems Experimentation Experts

Unmanned Systems plans, coordinates and conducts human in the loop experimentation that assesses unmanned capabilities employed by Soldiers or small units operating in the live environment. The team has the expertise to compliment live assessments with experimentation conducted in virtual, constructive and gaming environments as required by experiment designs. The Team produces reports that inform DOTMLPF decisions advancing future technologies, force concepts, development and modernization.

M1A1 Firing

The Mounted Team supports the Maneuver Battle Lab experimentation efforts for mounted requirements for small tactical units. The Team conducts multiple experiments throughout the year to include the Load Effects Assessment Program – Army (LEAP-A) to assess human performance, Soldier Protection Systems (SPS) to inform body armor requirements, and the Maneuver Fires Integration Exercise (MFIX) to inform lethality and overmatch requirements of the small tactical unit.
