Assault Breacher Vehicle Crewman Course

 
 

Course Description

 

The Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV) Crewman Course is designed to provide the operating forces with combat engineers trained to operate the ABV. During this course, students will receive wide instruction on operation and maintenance of the ABV and its subsystems, to include the Full Width Mine Plow, Surface Mine Plow, Rapid Ordnance Removal System, Lane Marking System, High Lift Adapter, Liner Demolition Charge System and Improved Vision System (IVS). In addition ABV students will receive training on the operations and maintenance of the M48 .50 caliber machinegun. Live Fire will be conducted for the M48 machinegun and the Line Demolition Charge System.

 

PREREQUISITES/ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

 
 

Reporting/Detaching

 

All students are required to bring three copies of their orders before reporting and ensure all line of accounting information is annotated. Students must also ensure a copy is furnished to the Marine Corps Detachment representative during the in-brief process. Please ensure all receipts for lodging while attending the course are retained for voucher purposes. Travelers who are scheduled to be TDY for more than 45 consecutive are recommended to initiate scheduled partial payments through the Defense Travel System. Payments are automatically computed and scheduled for payment in 30-day increments.

  Students must ensure they receive a detaching endorsement from the Marine Corps Detachment before reporting to their next follow on unit.

  *Reservist - It is the members responsibility to ensure they are activated and transferred before reporting. A copy of MROWs and all modifications will be furnished to the Marine Corps Detachment representative during the in-brief process. "

 

Gear List

 

Marines attending the M1A1 Tank System Mechanic will need to bring (2) sets of seasonal MarPat utilities, (2) sets of their Summer Service Charlie uniforms and check in wearing their Service Alpha uniform. You must bring the appropriate ribbons and badges for each uniform.

All field gear is provided; however if the Lateral Move Marines wish to bring their own gear they can. On the MarPat utilities, if your course drifts over the seasonal time change you will need to bring (2) sets of each season MarPat utilities. Boots will have the emblem on them.

The small PX here sells only chevrons in limited quantities; if you think you might need a uniform item while you are

 

Billeting

 

NCOs and below are billeted in the Marine Training Company barracks. SNCOs are billeted in Olson Hall (BOQ/BEQ), subject to availability. Cost is $36-40 a day. Olson Hall is NOT within walking distance; students will require transportation to and from training at the cost of their parent command.
