Marine Armored Crewmember Course


Course Description


The Marine Armored Crewmember Course provides entry-level Marines and Enlisted lateral transfer Marines with the skills required to operate the M1A1 Main Battle Tank. While attending students will be instructed and evaluated on an array of topics to include: vehicle operations, communications, basic gunnery, M1A1 weapons, and vehicle preventive maintenance. Marines who successfully complete this course will be will be awarded the 1812-Tank Crewmember MOS designation.






All students are required to bring three copies of their orders before reporting and ensure all line of accounting information is annotated. Students must also ensure a copy is furnished to the Marine Corps Detachment representative during the in-brief process. Please ensure all receipts for lodging while attending the course are retained for voucher purposes. Travelers who are scheduled to be TDY for more than 45 consecutive are recommended to initiate scheduled partial payments through the Defense Travel System. Payments are automatically computed and scheduled for payment in 30-day increments.

Students must ensure they receive a detaching endorsement from the Marine Corps Detachment before reporting to their next follow on unit.

*Reservist - It is the members responsibility to ensure they are activated and transferred before reporting. A copy of MROWs and all modifications will be furnished to the Marine Corps Detachment representative during the in-brief process. ")


Gear List


Marines attending the Marine Armor Crewmember Course will need to bring (2) sets of seasonal MarPat utilities, (2) sets of their Summer Service Charlie uniforms and check in wearing their Service Alpha uniform. You must bring the appropriate ribbons and badges for each uniform.

All field gear is provided; however if the Lateral Move Marines wish to bring their own gear they can. On the MarPat utilities, if your course drifts over the seasonal time change you will need to bring (2) sets of each season MarPat utilities. Boots will have the emblem on them.

The small PX here sells only chevrons in limited quantities; if you think you might need a uniform item while you are here you are encouraged to bring it.

Students will be billeted on Fort Benning and will not need to be billeted out in town. Students will not require transportation to and from. The use of Privately Owned Vehicles (POV) is not authorized for entry level students. Family members are not authorized.
