Introduction


Course Scope


Heavy Weapons Leaders Course trains Leaders via both resident and Mobile Training Teams (MTT); producing Leaders that are fully qualified, motivated, agile, adaptive, and have been equipped with the best tactical and technical knowledge to employ heavy weapons in support of Unified Land Operations and Large-Scale Operations.

Graduates of the course will be able to better perform the duties of a Leader to employ, engage, and eliminate threats with a variety of heavy weapons, in an IBCT and Heavy Weapons Company. As Leaders you will be given the tools and knowledge to assist and facilitate training battalion level of Machine Gun training, Javelin and M3 MAAWS (Carl Gustav) as well as M41 ITAS and Employment of all Weapons systems. They will be able to support the Battalion Commanders mission with the versatility of the Weapons Company capabilities providing close- and long-range missile and heavy machine gun fires.

Enlisted personnel MOS's of 11B, 19D and 18 series may attend the course but only the MOS of 11B will be awarded the additional skill identifier (ASI) of B8 upon successful completion of the course.


Course Outcome


The Heavy Weapons Leaders Course is currently a ten-day course..

Within the first week, the focused concentration will be on the technical aspects of both the M41 ITAS and M98A2 Javelin weapon Systems as well as the technical information of the Weapons Systems.

The second week focus will be on the tactical employment of the weapon systems to include Machine Gun Theory and Training Strategy

Reporting Instructions


Reporting Instructions Day 0: Non-resident students will report to Abrams Hall NLT 2400 HR local. Download GuideOn app to help with navigation from main post to Harmony Church.

Reporting Instructions for all students:
All students will report to the Heavy Weapons Leader Course Compound (Bldg 4630) at 0630 in OCP with pen and paper on day one of training, ORB/SRB, 1610, (FGA schools worksheet for residents only). (Location can be found on the GuideOn App)

TRANSPORTATION: Most courses on main post are within walking distance from Abrams Hall to the training location we are not we are located on Harmony Church which is 8.1 miles one-way. No government transportation is available from billeting to training and back for the course where the training location is outside of walking distance. Therefore, sending units are encouraged to fund a small rental vehicle.
