Course Description


Purpose: Provide commanders with select Noncommissioned Officer Marksmanship Master Trainers who can apply the marksmanship shot process in order to educate and develop primary and assistant instructors and assist commanders in planning and implementation of their marksmanship strategy.

Scope: This course will produce a Subject Matter Expert within the unit formation that the commander can use to assist in developing Home Station training and be a "ready resource" within the tactical formation to work solutions to marksmanship training problems and issues. This course will train Noncommissioned Officers as technical experts in marksmanship training, small arms maintenance, and planning marksmanship training. Graduates will serve as the primary trainer who certifies marksmanship trainers within their organization on maintenance and qualification training utilizing the current issue pistol, current issue rifle/carbine, bore light, thermal sights, optics, and backup iron sight. While the course integrates current U.S. Army Marksmanship doctrine, it also introduces the execution of newly developed marksmanship training techniques.

Course Outcomes:

  • Graduates possess the ability to coach, train and mentor both individual firers and unit level trainers, as required.
  • Graduates demonstrate proficiency, on the individual skills necessary, to effectively destroy common, urban, and complex engagement threats with the individual weapons found in TC 3-20.40, from 0-600 meters, under day, night, and CBRN conditions
  • Graduates are able to plan, prepare, execute, and assess the gates to live fire for training through qualification, advanced marksmanship, and individual skill certifications for the individual weapons found in TC 3-20.40 that reinforces the task mastery necessary for a unit's success in large scale ground combat.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, graduates will be awarded the E1 ASI.
