Come to IBOLC prepared to march at 15 min per mile pace with dry ruck sack weight of 35 lbs plus kit and weapon. The 12-mile foot march will be completed in three (3) hours.

All Active Duty Officers WILL attend Ranger School following graduation from IBOLC We focus heavy on Infantry Fitness. That is moving distances under load. At IBOLC, all students will be brought into this “Infantry Lifestyle’ of fitness through three phases. First the Build Phase (Weeks 1-5) where students travel by foot with appropriate load weight tailored to the Officer. Second the Foundation Phase (Weeks 6-11) exposes the Officers to load with kit at distances. Lastly Phase Sustain (Weeks 12-14) exposes the Officers to load with kit at unknown distances. Expect to travel by foot in all weeks 12-15 miles; at times exceeding this distance. Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Hydration are taught and assessed throughout all IBOLC.
Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT): The ACFT and two (2) RPA’s are both graded events. The graduation requirement for the course is 360 points (minimum of 60 in each event) on the final ACFT. The graduation requirement for the RPA reflects current ARTB standards.
