CSM Christopher K. Donaldson is a native of Arlington, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army in July 1999. He attended the United States Army Basic Infantry School (OSUT) in Fort Benning, Georgia.

CSM Donaldson has served in every leadership position from Rifle Team Leader to Brigade Command Sergeant Major. Additionally, he has served with 2-505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, a Ranger Instructor at the 82nd Airborne Pre-Ranger Course, 1-508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Mountaineering Team Sergeant and Instructor with 5th Ranger Training Battalion, 1-506th Infantry Regiment, OC/T at JRTC, Battalion and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major with 3rd BCT 82nd Airborne Division, Battalion Command Sergeant Major with 2-505th PIR, Senior Task Force OC/T at JMRC, 2BCT 10th MTN DIV Brigade Command Sergeant Major, JMRC Operations Group CSM. CSM Donaldson has seven combat deployments, two to Iraq and five to Afghanistan.

CSM Donaldson's military education includes Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support Course, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Air Assault School, Ranger School, Pathfinder School, Army Basic Instructor Course, Basic Military Mountaineering Course, Summer Assault Climber Course, Special Operations Target Interdiction Course, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 67.

CSM Donaldson's awards include: the Legion of Merit (two bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star (two bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Meritorious Service Medal (four bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (one silver Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (three bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Iraqi Campaign Medal (one bronze star), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (five bronze stars), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Army Overseas Ribbon (numeral five), the Army Service Ribbon, Multinational Force and Observers Medal, the NATO Medal, the Valorous Unit Citation (one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Unit Citation (two bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the British Parachutist Wings, the German Parachutist Wings, the French Parachutist Wings, the Pathfinder Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Ranger Tab, both the Expert Infantryman's Badge and Combat Infantryman's Badge and he is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
