Command Sergeant Major Brett Johnson enlisted in the Army on Sept. 29 1998 from Houston, Texas. After successful completion of Infantry One Station Unit Training, Airborne School and the Regimental Assessment and Selection Program at Fort Benning, he was assigned to 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment.
Command Sergeant Major Johnson has served in every enlisted leadership position from Team Leader through Command Sergeant Major. Command Sergeant Major Johnson's previous assignments include 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Regimental Special Troops Battalion, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the J7 at the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), 3D Ranger Battalion command sergeant major, and the 75th Ranger Regiment Intelligence Battalion command sergeant major.
Command Sergeant Major Johnson has completed all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System including the United States Army Sergeant's Major Academy and the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy. His additional schools include Airborne, Ranger, Jumpmaster, Joint Military Free Fall and Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape ( Level C).
Command Sergeant Major Johnson has deployed 19 times in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Command Sergeant Major Johnson's awards and decorations include The Legion of Merit, seven Bronze Star Medals, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, a Joint Service Commendation Medal with "V" device, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device, five Army Commendation Medals, seven Army Achievement Medals, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Expert Infantryman's Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Military Free Fall Parachutist Badge and he is a member of the Order of Saint Maurice.
