Command Sergeant Major Kevin J. Muhlenbeck is from Buffalo, New York, and joined the Army in July 1992. He completed Basic Training as an M1A1 Tank Crewman at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His assignments include 3-77 Armor Regiment, Mannheim, Germany; 1-33 Armor Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington; 1-77 Armor Regiment, Schweinfurt, Germany; 1-23 Infantry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington; 85th Division (TS), Fort Knox, Kentucky; 4/2nd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington, and Vilseck, Germany; University of Washington ROTC Battalion, Seattle, Washington; 1-10 Cavalry Regiment, 2-4 ABCT and 2nd Special Troops Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado. 1-14 Cavalry, JBLM, Washington, 2d Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.
CSM Muhlenbeck has held positions as M1A1 Abrams Driver, Loader, Gunner, Tank Commander, Platoon Sergeant, Mobile Gun System Platoon Sergeant, Brigade Training NCO, Headquarters, Headquarters Troop and Cavalry Troop First Sergeant, Senior Military Instructor/Commandant of Cadets, Operations Sergeant Major positions at the Squadron and Brigade level. He has served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 2d STB, 2-4 ABCT and 1-14 Cavalry, 1-2 SBCT. Served as the 31st Regimental Command Sergeant Major of the 2d Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany. He is currently serving as the Command Sergeant Major for the United States Army Armor School, Fort Benning, GA.
His deployments include peacekeeping deployments in support of Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Operation Joint Guard in Kosovo. Two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and one combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and one deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. He also served as part of the Defense Coordination Cell at Jackson, Mississippi, during hurricane recovery with Joint Task Force Katrina- Mississippi.
CSM Muhlenbeck’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 SLC & 1 OLC), Valorous Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal (7th award), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 campaign stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (#4), Overseas Service Ribbon (#6), the NATO Medal and the Combat Action Badge.
