Landlord/Tenant Law

It is widely known Soldiers and their families are frequently ordered to move (sometimes last minute!) throughout the Soldier’s career, so federal and many state laws have been passed in order to make this process a little bit less stressful. The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and certain states’ laws work to further protect Soldiers in matters related to landlord/tenant (i.e. leasing an apartment or residential home); specifically, protections for early lease termination, security deposit reimbursement and protection from eviction.
