The Army Research Institute – Fort Benning Research Unit (ARI-FBRU) works closely with the Consortium Research Fellows Program (CRFP) out of Arlington, Virginia to create opportunities for undergraduate and graduate degree seeking students to gain research experience. The CRFP was established in 1981 by the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. Since then the program has placed over 1400 students at locations in 11 states from 85 universities nationwide. Students are assigned to a mentor at these locations where they participate in research on future technology’s benefiting the DoD.
The FBRU has had 31 students since 1992. Here students aid in research on human performance, training, selection, and leadership specific to Infantry Soldiers, while gaining indispensable experience for future opportunities.
