This 24th INF Regt Post Exchange served African-American soldiers and their families from its construction in May 1937 until the end of segregation around 1950. It carried convenience store items routinely needed by Soldiers and included a short order grill. Located near the corner of Wold Avenue and Anderson St. – the heart of the segregated area of Fort Benning, its primary unit was the 24th Infantry Regiment, housed in the cuartel directly across the street. At some point after segregation ended the front windows and door were removed and infilled with brick. Repairs in 2013 restored it to its original appearance and added a side entrance for its new user: Officer Candidate School. It currently serves as the OCS Hall of Fame and conference room. It was memorialized through a memorialization transfer in 2013 for WWII Medal of Honor awardee, 2LT Thomas W. Wigle.
