Commander’s Message


Welcome to Fort Benning! This is an outstanding installation with a wide variety of organizations dedicated to supporting your mission and enhancing your quality of life. There are also many activities available for you and your family to enjoy during your time off.

The Installation Reception Center is here to support your transition, answer your questions, and guide you to your gaining unit as you begin your role here in your warfighting mission.

Arrival instructions


"Permanent Party" refers to Service Members who have Permanent Party Orders to Fort Benning. These directions do not apply to those on Temporary Duty (TDY) or students reporting to any of the schoolhouses on Fort Benning.

If arriving during duty hours, (Monday to Thursday, 6 a.m.– 4 p.m.; Friday, 6 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

  • Service Members are to report in duty uniform to Building 35, Room 239.
    • Building 35 street address: 969 Lincoln St, Fort Benning, GA 31905
  • A copy of the Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders assigning them to Fort Benning and all applicable DA-31 Leave Forms or IPPS-A Absence Requests from their losing unit are required.
    • If the Service Member does not have access to these documents, please inform the staff upon arrival.
  • Following the initial sign-in, further guidance and direction for in-processing will be provided.
If arriving outside of duty hours, on a weekend, or a Federal Holiday:
  • Service Members will report to the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE) Staff Duty desk at Building 4, McGinnis-Wickam Hall to sign in.
  • Modest civilian clothing is acceptable.
  • The Staff Duty NCO will sign Service Members into the Reception Center and off leave; a short questionnaire is required to finish check-in.
  • After check-in, report to Building 35, Room 239 by 9 a.m. on the next duty day for further guidance.
If you are an O6 (COL), E9 (SGM/CSM) or an O5 (LTC) assuming command and arrive after hours, please report to Building 35 Room 239 at 0900 on the following duty day for in-processing.

IMPORTANT: For single Service Members requiring a barracks room upon arrival, please call the 24/7 Staff Duty line at 706-905-0560. Service Members will be assigned a room in Building 976 (Installation Reception Center Barracks) during in-processing. On the final day of in-processing, Service Members will clean and clear their barracks before moving to their gaining unit.



In-Processing Overview


All Permanent Party Service Members will follow a comprehensive 7-day in-processing program that includes touchpoints with key Fort Benning resources such as Medical, Finance, Transportation, Housing, and Education. The program will allow for time to attend necessary appointments with these and other organizations on the installation. This program ensures that Service Members complete their onboarding tasks efficiently while receiving the necessary staff support for a smooth transition, enabling them to quickly assume their warfighting responsibilities and thrive in their new environment.

PCS Milestone Training:

To complete the online PCS Milestone training and earn excusal from the full in-person class, following these steps:

  1. Access the training portal at: www.financialfrontline.org/soldiers/
  2. Under AFWP Online Learning, click on the banner labeled "Click here to earn your certificate of completion."
  3. Scroll through the list of courses and select "Permanent Change of Station (PCS)" under Financial Readiness Touchpoints.
  4. Enroll in and complete the course, which takes approximately 45 minutes.
  5. Bring the saved or printed certificate to the in-person class to be excused after the first session
