Prospective SGL's

Thank you for your interest in the Small Group Leader position for the Maneuver Captains Career Course. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to teach and mentor our young maneuver officers. Additionally, serving as an MCCC SGL will help develop and prepare you to serve as field grade officers while achieving a real work-family balance in your post-command assignment.

This upcoming marketplace will be conducted through IPPS-A and we ask you to email your packet to Capt. Joshua W. Wright, joshua.w.wright27.mil@army.mil, as soon as possible once the market begin ...the earlier the better. We understand that IPPS-A is unable to provide the packet requirements until the market officially opens, however, below is a list of what will be requested. If possible, please email your packet as a consolidated PDF Portfolio, but feel free to piecemeal the contents if you are awaiting LoR(s):

• Soldier Talent Profile with your projected and accurate YMAV
• AFT/ACFT Card (DA FORM 705)
• 2 x Letters of Recommendation (Must include Battalion or Brigade Commander)
• Any other material you deem helpful and distinguishable during the hiring process

Typically, a Small Group Leader serves in this assignment for 2-3 years and PCS after their selection for promotion and ILE. You will certify upon arrival, which takes approximately two months and includes in-processing, the Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course (CFD-IC), and five small group instruction classes. Upon completing certification, you will begin your first full teach, which takes six months. Most instructors complete 2-3 full teaches before ILE or selection for advancement into a MAJ/O4 coded position such as Team Chief, Certification Chief, or instructing the reserve component.

Once the marketplace opens and we receive your complete packet, Capt. Powers or Capt. Wright will schedule an interview with you on MS Teams or phone and go from there (note - our interview window will be during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the marketplace). I cannot provide much advice for the interview beyond to come prepared, sell your experience, and to exhibit your intentions with this assignment.
