Walk-On


I am qualified Parachutist can Fort Benning place me on permissive jump orders?
NO, Fort Benning cannot place any soldier not assigned to the MCoE on permissive jump Status.

I am currently near the Fort Benning area, Can I get a walk-on slot for the Airborne Course?
Please understand we can never guarantee a walk on slot. Everything is based on numbers, ATRRS reservations have priority.

  1. The sending unit must accept all financial responsibility for the Student. Walk-on slots will not be reimbursed by MTSS funds.
  2. All required documentation must be presented during in processing. This includes a valid DD 1610, DD 2808, etc... Please check the website https://www.Benning.army.mil/Infantry/ARTB/1-507th/Airborne/ASI.html and ATRRS for more information.
  3. Service member must meet the following physical requirements:
    1. Must be able to pass a flex arm hang with a hold time of 10 seconds.
    2. Must be able to reach 80" with both feet on the ground.
    3. Appropriate physical must be within five (5) years. Updated PHA within one (1) year. Please check the website for more information.
  4. In order to be added to the approved walk-on list the sending unit must provide a hand carried memorandum for record. The memo should state the following:
    1. The sending unit accepts all financial responsibility for the Student and acknowledges that walk-on slots will not be reimbursed by MTSS funds.
    2. Acknowledge no guarantee will be given for walk on slots.
    3. List the class number and start date you are requesting.
    4. Digitally signed by the first O5 in the Chain of Command. Hand signed memorandums will result in the Service Member not being enrolled.
