Off-Limits Locations

The following addresses and/or establishments in Columbus, Georgia, have been placed off-limits to all military personnel within the Fort Benning area, to include: Fort Benning, Georgia; Warner Robins Air Logistics Force Base; the U.S. Naval Reserve Center, Columbus, Georgia; Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama; and the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Georgia, by the AFDCB:

Off-Limits Locations:

  1. 13th Street Bridge, waters and banks of the Chattahoochee River for a distance of 1-mile above and below the 13th Street Bridge between Columbus, Georgia, and Phenix City, Alabama, are designated off-limits for recreational activities, including fishing, wading, and swimming. This does not prevent use of the River Walk or adjoining streets and sidewalks but expressly prohibits fishing, wading, and swimming in the river, or walking on rocks in the river or along the river's banks. Commercial White Water activities surrounding the 13th Street Bridge may be utilized provided it is a guided trip conducted by an approved and licensed outfitter or guide. Military personnel are required to wear approved life preservers or flotation devices during all white water activities. Viewing of the white water course is also permissible from 'Wave Island" and the bridge. Military personnel may continue to fish in this area from powerboats, provided the individuals wear approved life preservers or floatation devices.

  5. Combat Footgear Inc., 2039 Torch Hill Rd, Suite 104, Columbus, GA 31905. On Post activities by Combat Footgear at Ft. Benning, GA including delivery, sales, and product presentation are prohibited. Off post there are no restrictions regarding Combat Footgear Inc. business locations at 2039 Torch Hill Road, Suite 104 and 6783 Veterans Pkwy, Suite 400, Columbus, GA. Service members may utilize online and off post Combat Footgear Inc. business operations.
  6. The Skybar, 136 W Magnolia Ave, Auburn, AL 36830
  7. DoorDash Inc., 901 Market St., San Francisco, CA 94103. Including DoorDash delivery personnel from delivering from off post establishments to on post locations. This does not include AAFES contracted DoorDash delivery personnel who deliver from on post establishments to on post locations and that have been properly vetted by physical security.
  8. The area along the Chattahoochee River that is located adjacent to Lawson Army Airfield off 82nd Airborne Division Rd, and is commonly known as Engineer Landing, is off limits during nighttime hours to all personnel not conducting training coordinated through Range Operations. The prohibited period begins at sunset and ends at sunrise.
  9. China Inn Express, 4393 Victory Dr., Columbus, GA 31903. Including delivery personnel from delivering food to on post locations.
  10. In the Zone, 2044 Fort Benning Rd, Columbus, GA 31903
  11. Happy Faces, 2046 Fort Benning Rd, Columbus, GA 31903
  12. Upatoi Beach area, Fort Benning, GA 31905 located adjacent Upatoi Creek and Engineer Road. This location is deemed to be unsafe for swimming and swimming is prohibited at all times.
