Current Hiring Priorities (as of NOV 2020)
The 75th Ranger Regiment does not utilize the AIM Marketplace to advertise our open vacancies and is not tied to the YMAV Model or Movement Cycles. Applications for service are accepted year round, with 11 RASP 2 Classes executed annually. Officers who successfully complete RASP 2 are expected to PCS within 60 days of selection. All potential candidates must apply PRIOR to entering their marketplace on AIM. All potential candidates must be fenced by the 75th Ranger Regiment prior to entering your market place. If you have already entered a marketplace, the 75th Ranger Regiment will not be able to bring you to RASP 2.
Submitting an Application:
We do not require a signed DA 4187 for your initial application, but will require one for you to come to RASP 2
Required documents that will be uploaded to the AIM portal:
NOTE: Hiring priorities are somewhat specific to Infantry Officers, but timeline considerations by Year Group (YG) are very similar for all branches. Generally, the Regiment expects Ranger Officers to provide 18-24 months of utilization time. Meaning, we expect an Officer to serve 18-24 months from the day the Officer reports to the Regiment to the day the Officer signs out on their follow-on assignment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: I am a Lieutenant that is branch detailed; should I apply for a position in my Current Branch or Future Branch?
A: Branch Detail Infantry Lieutenants can be hired for service in the 75th Ranger Regiment. However, they must serve in their control branch capacity. For example, an MI Detail Infantry Lieutenant must serve in an Infantry role, and cannot be hired to serve as a BN A/S2 until transitioning to MI Branch. Should you be a Branch Detailed Officer interested in pursuing service in your basic branch OR your current branch within the Regiment, please submit an initial application through the AIM portal.
Q: My BDE Commander (or equivalent O6 Senior Rater) has not gotten me the 4187 and/or the Letter of Recommendation (LOR) back, can I still submit my application?
A: If your 4187 is still pending signatures, but you have a signed LOR from that Officer, YES, you may submit your application packet, but you will still owe us the 4187. The same works in reverse (if you have a signed 4187 but are still waiting on your LOR). If you have neither document signed, your application packet will be rejected as incomplete.
Q: Do I need a security clearance to attend RASP 2?
A: Yes, you need at a minimum a Secret clearance.
Q: How do I know if I will have enough time in my professional timeline to be hired by the Ranger Regiment?
A: The Ranger Regiment looks for a minimum utilization of 18-24 months from our Officers. If attending your next Professional Military Education—usually CCC or ILE—would prevent you from serving at least 18 months of utilization; your application may be rejected as "insufficient utilization." Since everyone’s career path is unique, talk with a Ranger Recruiter and your Assignment Officer to receive specified guidance.
Q: Will lack of deployment experience hurt my chances at being hired?
Q: Are Armor Officers allowed to compete for Ranger Battalion Positions?
A: No, the Ranger Regiment is not hiring Armor officers at this time
Q: What else should I do in order to make myself competitive for selection?
A: There is no specific formula but here are some steps that may help: Earn a Ranger Tab; pursue leadership opportunities early and often in operational units, and excel at those positions; attend schooling focused on developing skills relevant to your Branch/MOS and of potential use in the Ranger Regiment (examples: RSLC, IMLC, Jumpmaster, UMO, TC-AIMS, SHARP, RESILIENCY, etc.); educate yourself on those related to your Branch/MOS; seek feedback from peers, subordinates and superiors; and continually accept challenges and grow from every success and failure.
Q: Do I need a Ranger Tab to apply?
A: All Officers attending RASP 2 must be Ranger qualified, with exceptions requiring Regimental Commander / Command Sergeant Major approval. Battalions interested in hiring non-Ranger qualified applicants are required to seek an ETP for that candidate to attend RASP2. We encourage all non-Ranger qualified applicants to pursue every opportunity to earn their Ranger Tab in order to be competitive for service in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Non-Ranger qualified applicants will need to attend Ranger School through their current duty station. Information on attending Ranger School is available on the ARTB website: https://www.benning.army.mil/Infantry/ARTB/
Q: How long do I need to be on station to PCS to the Ranger Regiment?
A: You should have at least 12 months’ time on station before you consider options for PCS Also, be aware that if you have RFO for a follow on assignment, you may not be eligible to apply to the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Q: I am an NCO selected to attend WOCS & WOBC and I would like to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment. How and when can I apply?
A: Based on the strength of your file and your previous service in the Career Field (ie.- 92Y earns an appointment to 920A) select candidates will be invited to attend RASP 2 shortly before or after WOCS/WOBC. If successful, we will work with your Assignment Officer to make the Ranger Regiment your next assignment. Other interested NCOs heading to WOCS/WOBC whose file or timing doesn’t work out can apply IAW our recruiting guidance while serving in a unit following WOCS/WOBC.
Q: I would like to transfer from another branch of service to join the Ranger Regiment. How can I do that?
A: You will have to contact your losing service human resource / personnel command and the Army Human Resource Command to get these answers. The Regiment has no part in service transfers.
Q: What are the formats for my Letter of Recommendation and/or the Letter of Intent? What should they cover?
A: Reference AR 25-50 for formatting. Content of each letter is up to the writer. How the letters are crafted and the message they convey is part of the assessment, so additional guidance will not be provided by the Recruiting Detachment.
Q: What does a strong file for a RASP 2 candidate look like?
A: A record of superior performance as captured in your AERs (Commandant’s List, Exceeded Course standards, Honor Graduate) Evaluations (Majority "Top Blocks" ACOM / MQ, specific enumeration in Senior Rater comments, potential to serve in the next grade) and Letters of Recommendation (strongly worded examples of distinguished performance/ potential, personal interaction with the candidate).
Q: Do you have slots for Aviation officers? Perhaps as LNOs?
A: Yes. We have non-flying positions for CPTs and MAJs on the Regimental Staff. This is a new addition in 2020. Please contact email@example.com immediately if you’re an interested CPT or MAJ 15A.
Q: I saw you select Warrant Officers sometimes directly out of WOCS/WOBC. Do you select Officers directly out of BOLC for service in the Regiment?
A: In very rare and specific circumstances, we will identify talented Support/Enabling branch Officers in their BOLC class for early sequencing into RASP 2. Less than 5 candidates per year are assessed in this manner and most are prior service, Ranger qualified 2LTs that demonstrated distinguishable service during their enlisted tenure.
Q: What are the "Ranger Regiment Pipelines" that I have heard some branches utilize?
A: Several Support/Enabling branches (examples include MI, SC, LG, CM) manage programs often referred to as the Ranger Regiment Pipelines. Based on manpower projections and operational needs, representatives from each of these branches will identify talented officers at specific BOLC or CCC classes and conduct physical assessment and screening interviews. Specially selected officers will be given an opportunity to attend Ranger School and RASP 2 for potential assignment to the Regiment.
Q: Where is the best place to find up-to-date information about the Ranger Regiment in 2021?
