Mission

Senior Gunner Course

General

The Senior Gunner Course trains accomplished noncommissioned officers to be Mounted Machine Gun gunnery subject matter experts to assist commanders at all echelons in planning, executing, and evaluating Mounted Machinegun direct-fire platform gunnery).

Scope

The Senior Gunner Course trains accomplished Noncommissioned Officers and select Officers to be Mounted Machine Gun gunnery subject matter experts to assist commanders at all echelons in planning, executing, and evaluating Mounted Machinegun direct-fire platform gunnery). Instruction includes gunnery skills testing on M240B, M2 and MK19 crew served weapons, small arms ammunition, Armed Forces Vehicle Identification (AFVID), optics, Direct Fire Kill Chain, Gunnery Training Management, Prerequisites to Live Fire, Vehicle Crew Evaluator certification, and Range Operations.

Reporting uniforms will be Civilians or OCPs. If you are scheduled to attend this school and have not received a welcome letter or Individual Student Assessment Plan or if you have additional questions, please contact the NCOIC via email or cell (757-202-8265).

Prerequisites

  • E5 to E8
  • Assigned to a Mounted Machine Gun(MMG) platform (non-MOS specific)
  • GT score of 100
  • Must volunteer for the course
  • One year experience as a vehicle commander or gunner
  • Gunnery Certification verified by Battalion Commander

Documentation Required:

  • 10 Copies of Orders
  • Electronic Records Brief (ERB)/Soldiers Talent Profile (STP) verifying GT score
  • DA Form 705 (AFT)
